Parking Agreement Reached with Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn
Over the last several years His Grace Foundation has tried to find a solution for the tremendous cost incurred monthly for patient family parking. The most recent rate hike convinced us that we must pursue other parking options. We are proud to announce that His Grace Foundation and Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Medical Center Houston have reached an agreement solving this issue and adding new amenity options for our families.

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Medical Center is the closest full service hotel to Texas Children’s Hospital. It is within walking distance and offers the best shuttle transportation within the Medical Center Area. Holiday Inn has agreed to provide His Grace Foundation with 15 parking spaces for our patients and their families while on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Texas Children’s Hospital. The agreement reached between HGF and Holiday Inn will save our organization thousands of dollars each year while providing a number of other amenities to our families which include: shuttle service to the Medical Center and surrounding area, use of the business center with internet and printing service, complimentary newspaper, a relaxing lobby area, access to the fitness center and swimming pool. In addition, HGF will receive discounted rates for families who have housing needs during their stay at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Each family will receive a parking permit for one vehicle. They may park and take the shuttle to TCH free of charge. We have been told by several individuals that this service actually saves them time and is less stressful since parking in the Medical Center area has become a frustrating experience - garages near the hospital are often full, individuals are forced to park blocks away, walk long distances and/or have to wait for their vehicle 20-45 minutes should they choose to valet. This only adds to the many burdens our families are facing on a daily basis.

We are greatly encouraged that a parking solution has been found and that His Grace Foundation may now consider other areas of service to our families with this cost savings.

Special thanks to Tom Matthews, General Manager and Michelle Hosey, Dorector of Sales at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Medical Center.

Beauty Break For Parents and Caregivers

Beautique Day Spa and Salon
Beautique Day Spa & Salon - Rice Village - has begun donating one haircut each week to His Grace Foundation which is given to a parent/caregiver who has a child on the transplant unit. Beautique’s goal is not only to pamper our parents and caregivers but to exceed expectations in every service they provide. The salon’s close proximity to Texas Children’s Hospital makes it easy for parents/caregivers to take advantage of this free service and arrange for other services the salon/spa provides should they decide to do so. Free shuttle service to Rice Village is provided by Holiday Inn Houston Medical Center. We know this brief break from a long hospital stay will provide each one the ultimate experience in pampering. Thank you Beautique!

Christmas Blessings from Cypress Creek EMS & Fire Dept.

Cypress Creek Blessings

Children on the BMTU were blessed with toys and gifts this Christmas season
donated by Cypress Creek EMS and Cypress Creek Fire Department.

We are especially grateful to Lori Liggon who organized the toy donation through Cypress Creek EMS and Fire Department employees. Santa’s sleigh was overflowing with goodies that were given to patients throughout the month of December.
